Candy Christianity vs. Doctrinal Christianity

“True religion is the true worship and service of God, learnt and believed from the word of God only. No man or angel can know how God would be worshiped and served, unless God reveal it: he hath revealed and taught it us in the Holy Scriptures by inspired ministers, and in the gospel by his own Son and his apostles, with strictest command to reject all other traditions or additions whatsoever.”John Milton

“The house built on the sand may oftentimes be built higher, have more fair parapets and battlements, windows and ornaments, than that which is built upon the rock; yet all gifts and privileges equal not one grace.” – John Owen

“The plain truth is that false doctrine has been the chosen engine which Satan has employed in every age to stop the progress of the Gospel of Christ. Finding himself unable to prevent the Fountain of Life being opened, he has laboured incessantly to poison the streams which flow from it. If he could not destroy it, he has too often neutralized its usefulness by addition, subtraction, or substitution. In a word he has ‘corrupted men’s minds.’”- J.C. Ryle

“The church has lost her testimony. She has no longer anything to say to the world. Her once robust shout of assurance has faded away to an apologetic whisper. She who one time went out to declare now goes out to inquire. Her dogmatic declaration has become a respectful suggestion, a word of religious advice, given with the understanding that it is after all only an opinion and not meant to sound bigoted. Pure Christianity, instead of being shaped by its culture, actually stands in sharp opposition to it.“- A.W. Tozer

“The God of holiness and eternal majesty is hardly mentioned these days. The preachers used to declare with holy boldness to the pew dwellers, ‘You are lost.’ Today it is, ‘You are loved.’ It takes living men to deliver the living Word. Unless the preachers walk in the fear of the Lord and step out of eternity into the pulpits, the spiritual life of the nation will continue in its descent to weakness and finally apostasy.” –Leonard Ravenhill (bold/italics mine

The problem is not that I was rejected. The problem is that millions of youth are being led astray into thinking they are Christians, thinking that this is Christianity, when it resembles nothing of the Bible or church history. Millions of 20 and 30-somethings are buying into “candy Christianity”, social justice, the social gospel, ecumenicalism, unbiblical tolerance for sin, and much, much more. Every week I am reading newspaper articles and receiving emails about events which have NOTHING to do with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Church signs read like signs of the end times; and programs, people, and propaganda come together like a giant tidal wave of massively ugly pseudo-Christianity. In light of all this ever- increasing darkness, I would like to briefly sum up seven main points I have with biblical Christianity vs. the apostate church.
